This Week of Therapy may be the First Step of Hope for Stutterers

A study in Beijing, China has made some preliminary findings that may give stutterers and their loved ones a bit of hope. Published in the journal Neurology, a of therapy began showing brain changes in the patients, as compared to those that were not given any therapy.

It is important to note that the Stuttering Foundation is cautioning that only one week of therapy is not to be considered any form of quick repair for the problem. Long term therapy is always recommended for the best results.

The interesting part of this study is that it showed the brain can train itself to begin a rewiring process when given the proper instruction and environment. Additional studies will be needed to validate to what extent the brain changes can achieve.
