Young, healthy people have bright, sparkling eyes with tightly held lids and generous brows and lashes. In our society’s desire for eternal youth, many people are seeing that the eyes are often the first area to begin showing the signs of our true age. How Much Does Blepharoplasty Surgery Cost

Blepharoplasty is considered to be a minor cosmetic surgery. It involves removing fatty or baggy above and or below the eyes. Combined with other cosmetic surgery processes such as eyebrow lifts, crow’s feet removal, the results can often give a renewed look of youth. Most of the patients that undergo blepharoplasty are usually over the age of around thirty five, however, some people may choose the process at a younger age if they have inherited loose eyelids and want an improved appearance.

Since blepharoplasty is considered a cosmetic surgery, it is not something that is usually covered by health insurance. The blepharoplasty surgery cost will be completely dependent upon the area that you live in. Like everything else, cost relates to the income of the area and is treated as a supply and demand commodity. Another consideration is the surgeon, the problem that is being treated and the method of treatment. You will also want to look at what kind of anesthesia is used and if done in a facility, there will be facility costs. Unless you have been diagnosed with ptosis (severely drooping eyelids), do not expect any health insurance coverage.

Non Asian patients will usually have the type of blepharoplasty that removes fatty and baggy skin. Those of East Asian descent, choose the blepharoplasty that adds a fold in the upper eyelid. This opens the appearance of the eye so that it appears larger and less saggy.

Most blepharoplasty surgeries are accomplished with laser surgery with little recuperating time. Post operative treatment usually includes ointment or cream and bandages to protect the eyes. Most of the blepharoplasty surgery patients can return to work or normal life within a ten day period.

In general, if you live in one of the large metropolitan areas like New York City, Miami or Los Angeles, you can probably count on a cost of around four thousand dollars. However, if you are in a smaller community, the cost can be as low as $2,500.

If you are considering plepharoplasty surgery, be sure to do the research and contact a qualified surgeon. Make sure that it is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Some of the cosmetic surgeons of today have offices that will work with you in financing the surgery or monthly payments. You will need to do some homework, get referrals and make a decision that fits the best with your financial and economic situation.

I know a couple of people who have done this surgery, and I know for sure that it is effective. Its quite expensive though, and I'm thinking of doing it in another, cheaper country. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.
