What are some natural remedies for the intestinal flu?

The intestinal flu is never fun and a lot times it is impossible to get to the doctor due to certain symptoms that may arise. Vomiting and diarrhea make it hard to drive to the doctor, sit in a waiting room and even be seen. When the stomach bug hits, there are some natural home remedies and precautions people can make to take care of the job without running to the doctor. Below is a list of some for the intestinal flu that can make life a whole lot easier.

Intestinal Flu

1.Rest
One of the best ways to get over the gastric flu or stomach flu is to simply rest. Call in sick, rent some movies if you feel up to it, and lay around. Sleep is probably the best remedy for a stomach bug because when your body goes into a deep sleep the healing process in your body is stimulated.

2.Fuel with fluids
To prevent dehydration from intestinal flu symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea, replenishing your body’s electrolytes is important. If you are able to keep liquids down, it is best to drink warm herbal tea or carbonated water.

3.Cook with garlic
Garlic contains natural antioxidants, and adding this natural healer to your tea or hot water can help sooth your stomach and speed up the healing process. While not as appealing as honey added to your tea, it can really do the job.

4.Get going with ginger
Fresh ginger root added to a cup of hot tea can really do the job when you’re hit with the gastric flu. The antioxidants released from the ginger root help soothe nausea. Ginger is often recommended to pregnant women experiencing morning sickness in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy.
