Smooth, Sexy Skin Secrets
- The skin epidermis, or upper layer of the skin, is where most skin care issues take place
- Since our skin is the organ that protects us the most, certainly our first line of defense against the outside world, it’s very important that we take care of it, such as with natural skin care options
- Taking care of your skin means eating a healthy diet, taking precautions when going out in the sun and using a good skin moisturizer
Having smooth sexy skin is something many of us believe is only possible for celebrities who have oodles of cash to spend on products and lots of advisors telling them how to always look beautiful. Thankfully, that’s not the case. The sexy skin secrets we believe are beyond our grasp are really much closer than you could imagine. Below are a few of the best tips for improving the smoothness and sexiness of your skin.
Healthy Diet
One of the best secrets shouldn’t be a secret at all. Eating healthy is the best way to make sure your skin looks beautiful. That’s because your skin is really just one giant organ and like all of your other organs needs good nutrition to work properly. Plus, having a good supply of vitamins and nutrients will improve the overall look of your skin.
Make sure to add plenty of healthy fatty acids, such as those found in fish and salmon, because they are good for your skin.
Minimize Sun Exposure
While our vision of beauty tends to include tanned skin, you’d be better off getting that tan out of a bottle than from the sun. That’s because those ultraviolet rays are damaging to your skin and can cause premature signs of aging, including increased dryness and discoloration. When you do go in the sun, you should always protect your skin with an adequate sunscreen. An SPF of at least 15 is good. And that sun protection should be done both in the summer and winter. Just because the weather is colder that doesn’t mean the sunshine is any less damaging for your skin.
Choose Good Moisturizers
Moisturizing your skin is another secret to having smooth sexy skin. That’s because these lotions and creams can trap moisture in your skin and can serve as a barrier to the environmental pollutants that can cause further damage. However, you need to know which ingredients to look for and when to apply the moisturizer if it’s going to do any good.
Avoid sodium laureth which can actually increase dryness by removing naturally-produced oils in the skin. Look for lanolin products whenever possible because this ingredient provides a good barrier for your skin without being overly harsh. Remember to apply it while you’re skin is already moist, such as after a shower, because it cannot actually restore moisture to your skin. It can only prevent its evaporation in the first place.
Avoid Bad Habits
Developing a good skin care routine is one of the good habits you should start but there are a few bad habits you need to give up. Smoking is definitely one of them. If you are a smoker, you are damaging your skin with every cigarette thanks to the chemicals in the smoke and in the parts you ingest. Alcohol can also be very destructive to your skin. Think about the last time you looked at an alcoholic and commented on his/her beautiful skin. It just doesn’t happen. Most alcoholics look older than their age thanks to the damaged skin from the drinking combined with the poor nutrition associated with the disease.

I discovered I was allergic to sodium laureth after using a moisturizer with this ingredient. If you have sensitive skin, steer clear of it from the start.January 23rd, 2009 at 11:33 pm
