Male Birth Control Pill: Really? Are They Still Talking about This?
Scientists have been working on a male birth control pill for the last thirty years (or more). The problem in the past is that they did develop a functional pill, but it reduced the male sexual desire. This, seemed to be a no win situation and men would simply not accept that.
There seems to be hope on the horizon as researchers have identified a molecule that can affect the production of sperm without the reduction of sexual interest. When the medication was removed, the sperm count resumed to a normal level. So far, the tests have only been done in mice.
There remains the continual problem that only women have voiced: a male birth control pill will be great with permanent partners (ie: husbands), but as a society, we are not ready to trust a single male that ‘says’ he is on the pill.
