Inventor Sues U.S. Over Patent Law that Favors Big Corporations
Mark Stadnyk is not a name that you will see in the headlines, but he is making a rather big impression. Stadnyk is an entrepreneur and inventor and is currently suing the United States government on the topic of a patent law that seems to prefer big business and put smaller businesses on the back burner.
It seems that Congress passed a law in the fall of 2011 called The America Invents Act, and Stadnyk is challenging the constitutionality of this law. Stadnyk, along with a line of other entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and academics are claiming that this law threatens to overturn the historic method of proof for a patent and instead changes it over so that the ‘first to file’ wins, regardless of the proof as to who actually accomplished the invention.
