In the U.S., Race and Ethnicity may Play a Part in the Amount of Sleep You Get

The controversial topic of race on sleeping patterns has been a rather new study. Research is now involving psychologists, demographers, epidemiologists and sleep experts and the results are quite shocking.

It appears that white, non-hispanic individuals get the highest quality of sleep, where as Black Americans get the least quality, with the most restless sleep. The problem all of the experts are facing is that they have no idea why. Topics that are being included in the mix of answers might include the nature/nurture background along with socioeconomics, but there isn’t one or even a group of explanations that have been brought to the forefront. The topic itself may be controversial but it is well worth investigating as the quality and quantity of sleep a human gets is a direction reflection on the individual’s overall health condition.
