Heat Stroke Symptoms: Especially for Seniors
As our summers continue to heat up across the country, with higher and higher temperatures, there are many that seem to not be aware of the symptoms as well as the dangers of heat stroke.
Seniors and children are particularly susceptible to heat stroke and also experience some of the worst consequences.
Heat stroke occurs during high temperature activity, when the body’s cooling function is not sufficient to continue the cooling process. Symptoms of heat stroke include: body sweat ceases, headache, weakness in extremities, a feeling of dizziness, lack of thirst. Heat stroke can cause permanent damage to major organs and, if not treated, can cause death.
Hospitals across eleven states have been filled with heat stroke victims this year. They are in a frenzy to get information and education out to the public.
