Families can Select Healthy Food, even with a Tight Budget

The myth that good food is expensive is being debunked by both of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and The Environment Working Group. Through their various efforts they are getting the message out to health care providers that people can have a healthy diet on lowered income. The EWG is working with the largest group in the country that fights the anti-hunger battle, Share Our Strength, to distribute an educational shopping guide for healthy food called “Good Food On A Tight Budget”.

Healthy Food

The guide includes many tips on how to get the best food with the highest nutrition quality at low costs. There are helpful hints for healthy substitutions that offer great taste and yet cost less. The group hopes that the guide will offer the kind of information that is needed by people on lowered or limited income so that they can remain healthy.
