Ethanol Quota in Question During High Drought Times
Drought brings hard times, but in the topic of ethanol it is creating an actual war. Three large agribusiness industries are in a battle with biofuel refineries to get the United States government to lower the required ethanol percentage in gasoline.
Corn farmers, poultry and meat producers are facing major losses due to the devastating drought conditions that have hit the United States in the last year. The five year government plan involves continued increase of the percentage of ethanol found in gasoline and is hitting these industries hard. They are being supported by many lawmakers, international food industries and even governors. On the other side we find the biofuel refineries that want to maintain the government plan, because it is their business and industry.
