5 Most Unusual Homemade Skin Care Face Masks

You’ve probably heard that facial masks can have a wide range of benefits for your skin, depending on the ingredients used in the process. While many people go to the spa for these treatments or purchase ready-made mask concoctions at stores, you don’t have to spend all that money. Instead, you can try some homemade skin care mask solutions. Below are five of the more unusual of these masks.

Homemade Skin Care

5. Lemon Tomato Mask

If you have oily skin, this can be an excellent choice for your facial skin care, especially if you have problem acne. To create this mask, you’re going to need the insides of a very ripe tomato. Scoop those insides out and mash them up thoroughly. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of instant oatmeal. Mix everything together in a blender. Apply to your face and keep on for about 15 minutes. After that time passes, you should wash off the mask using warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel and enjoy the refreshed feeling of your face.

The wonder chemicals of this mask are the acids found in the two main ingredients. These acids work against the oil on the skin and can help destroy the oil leading to blackheads.

4. Juice & Oil Mask

You’ve probably heard time and time again not to use regular soap on your face because it is simply too drying. If you want an effective deep cleansing mask, you might want to consider this recipe for skin care face cleaning. To make the mask, you’re going to need several ingredients: one tablespoon of powdered brewer’s yeast, one-half tablespoon of yogurt, and one teaspoon each of lemon juice, orange juice, carrot juice, and olive oil. Now you can adjust the amount of olive oil in your mask based on your skin type. For example, dry skin needs more oil. Mix everything together into a well-combined paste, rub it on your face, and leave it on for about fifteen minutes.

3. Brown Sugar Scrub

During the winter months, you’ll not only need more moisture in your skin but you’ll also have the two main ingredients in plentiful supply after the holiday baking. To make this particular scrub that can be used as a mask, you’re going to need one-fourth cup of brown sugar and up to two tablespoons of milk. When choosing your milk, you don’t want skim but anything else will do. Just blend the ingredients together, massage the results into your face for about one minute, leave on for fifteen minutes, then rinse off. Repeat the facial mask any time your face starts to feel a little dry.

2. Tumeric Mask

These masks were very commonly used by brides to make their skin look beautiful before their weddings. Keep in mind that some of the ingredients may take a little more searching to find than others. Here’s what you’re going to need: two teaspoons each of powder, sandalwood powder, and almond oil. To these ingredients, you’re going to need 1 ½ cups of gram flour (also sometimes sold as besan). As you’re combining the ingredients, you’ll need to add a little bit of water so you can mix everything into a paste. Rub it on your face and leave on for no more than 10 minutes.

1. Chocoholic Face Mask

Chocolate can be a great moisturizer for your skin. This mask includes several interesting ingredients, including one tablespoon each of cocoa powder and heavy cream combined with one teaspoon of each of cottage cheese and oatmeal. As you mix these ingredients together, slowly add about four teaspoons of honey. Once you’ve got them together, throw them in a blender to mix them up even better. Massage the puree into your face and leave on for 10 minutes for best results. This is a good choice for homemade skin care.

Are some of these masks better for one skin tone than another? You say that for example the tomato lemon mask is best for oily skin. What about the others? I actually have dry skin and I'm always cautious about putting things on my face that might only dry it out more. What is the best natural mask for dry skin?
