3 More Supplements that are a Waste of Money
We couldn’t just stop at 3. Here are a few more supplements that are a waste of your hard earned dollars.
1) CLA
While CLA is an essential fatty acid that helps burn fat and promotes lean muscle tissue, it can be expensive and is really only effective in high doses. Other fatty acids, such as Omega-3s, are much more cost effective and promote the same health benefits. CLA is naturally occurring, so if you eat plenty of meat and dairy you are already getting a dose of CLA in your diet. It is not that CLA is ineffective, but fish oils are better and for weight loss there are better supplements.
2) Weight Gain Protein Powders
Many bodybuilders flock to weight gain protein powder as a convenient way to get the calories they need to gain mass. Often they will have protein powder for some shakes and then weight gain powder for others. You know what works better and is more cost effective? Buying carb powder and adding it to your protein. That is right, you can make your own weight gain shake and be in full control of your carb intake.
3) Vitamin E
Vitamin E is another vitamin that is often sold as an incomplete vitamin. Most vitamin E that you buy contains only 1 out of the 8 forms of Vitamin E, usually just d-alpha-tocopherol. Why waste your money on a vitamin that does not deliver its complete nutrients? Your money is better spent on almonds, asparagus and other natural sources of vitamin E. If you do choose to buy it over-the-counter, make sure to read the label carefully.
