With so many fad diets and such much conflicting advice, it is difficult to know what actually works to burn fat and keep you lean. You may be eating sensibly and getting plenty of exercise but still cannot attain your goals. The following are three habits that may be preventing you from losing weight.

1) Deprivation
With our busy schedules it can be difficult to find the time to get a full seven or eight hours of sleep a night. Unfortunately, sleep deprivation can play a huge roll in weight gain. When you sleep less your body’s hormone levels change. Gherlin levels, which stimulate your appetite, increase, and Leptin levels, which make satisfied after a meal, decrease. Sleep deprivation can also lead your body to store more carbohydrates as fat. Get adequate sleep and you may be surprised how it will assist you in achieving you weight loss goals.

2) Skipping Breakfast

There is a reason why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After hours of sleep your metabolism has slowed while your body fasted over night. Once you awake, you need to eat something to get your metabolism moving again. If you want to be successful at losing weight and keeping it off you need to eat breakfast every morning, no exceptions.

3) Late Dinners

If your body does not utilize the food you eat it will surely turn to fat when you rest. Eating carbohydrates with your dinner too close to sleep will cause you to gain weight. Make sure to give yourself three to four hours between dinner and bedtime.
