Remove Wrinkles – The Most Effective Ways to Reduce Wrinkles – Part 1
Before you turn to artificial treatments to remove wrinkles, there are a number of things you can do to either prevent them or reduce their appearance. This is part 1 of 2 articles, in which I have outlined the most effective “natural” ways to reduce wrinkles. In the second part of the article, I have reviewed the most effective treatments to reduce wrinkles.
1.Avoid the sun. According to countless studies, the sun is the major cause of wrinkles. Studies conducted on identical twins showed that siblings who had more sun exposure had more wrinkles and overall looked older than their twins who tended to steer clear of the sun.
2. Get adequate sleep. This is important for how to reduce wrinkles, because if you lack sleep, excess cortisol will be produced by the body. This hormone will break skin cells down, which will create more wrinkles. If you get adequate sleep, then the body will produce more of the human growth hormone (HGH), which keeps the skin more “elastic”, helping to remove wrinkles.
3. Don’t smoke. According to another glut of studies, smoke from cigarettes is harmful for the skin. While smoking, an enzyme is released, which breaks down elastin and collagen – the most important skin components to keep it looking young. So, the simple answer to how to reduce wrinkles is to simply quit smoking.
4. Sleep on your back. If you sleep on your side in the same position every single night, then the same wrinkles become reinforced into your face. Eventually, they will remain there even when you are not sleeping. So, if you sleep on your back, it will minimize the chance of getting so-called “sleep lines”.
5. Eat more cold-water fish, especially salmon. These fish are a great protein source, which is necessary for good healthy skin. They are also full of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are generally good for your health, and they also help your skin look smoother and younger.
6. Don’t squint – buy glasses instead! When you work your facial muscles too much, a groove will end up forming under the surface of the skin. Squinting is a great example of this, since it’s something most of us do on a regular basis without even realizing. If you find yourself doing it quite a bit when reading or looking in the distance, then perhaps it’s time to get glasses.
7. Eat more soy. Certain studies have shown that eating soy can help prevent or reduce some of the damage caused by the sun. One study in particular has demonstrated that after only 6 months of taking a soy-based supplement, the skin’s firmness and structure considerably improved.
8. Eat more vegetables and fruit. Their antioxidant properties are key to reducing the damage free radicals cause to the skin. Eating fresh fruit and vegetables can help you have younger-looking skin, and can even assist with protecting you from sun damage.
9. Drink cocoa instead of coffee. Researchers have found that cocoa contains important dietary flavanols in high doses, and these help protect the skin from damage caused by the sun. They also improve hydration, improve circulation, and in general, make the skin feel and look smoother.
10. Use moisturizer. Instead of investing loads into expensive products, you should just use a simple moisturizer, especially after bathing. Creases and lines are always less noticeable in moist skin, so don’t overlook the simplicity of a moisturizing cream.
