4) Sometimes professional help will do the trick, as hypochondria is not something that can easily be self-treated. Psychotherapy may be needed for those more severe cases, examples of which include cognitive therapy, group therapy, and behavior modification. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to be the most effective in hypochondria treatment, as it takes away the fears of the illness that the hypochondriac is experiencing. It helps the person relax, and distracts him from the fear of the illness.
5) For less conventional hypochondria treatment, you may choose to turn to acupuncture. It has also shown some positive results in attempts to treat hypochondria. However, it is recommended to go to a professional for this type of treatment.
