5 Best Methods to Get Rid of Black Heads
- Black heads and acne breakouts – something we all experience because acne and hormones are directly related and, of course, we all have hormones
- Thankfully, many black head and acne skin care products are available to help us deal with this most common and most troublesome skin care issue
It can be hard to get rid of black heads. They are some of the most stubborn little bumps you can get. They are a form of acne, although just because you have black heads does not necessarily mean you have acne. Still, the results are the same. Black heads are caused by an over excess of sebum – that is pretty much just a fancy medical term for “oil”. Oil is produced by your oil glands – or your sebaceous glands, if you want to be all proper about it. Anyway, a lot of people think that black heads look the way they do because they are caused by dirt. It is so outdated to think that hygiene has anything to do with black heads! The truth is much more simple. The excess oil produced by your oil glands clogs your pores, along with a mixture of dead skin cells and other debris. Some of the pores get totally blocked, some of them only get partially blocked. Black heads look black because the pores are only partly clogged; the debris clogging them oxidizes and looks dark due to exposure to the air. And if you didn’t catch it, your pores are the key to being able to fight black heads.
1. Use Black Heads Cleanser
Now, one of the five best methods to get rid of blackheads naturally involves using the right black head cleanser. You have to be careful here. Scrubbing your skin to death is just going to make everything worse. It irritates your skin even more. So, you also do not want to choose an abrasive black head cleanser. That will just make your skin look even more painful and irritated – and it will feel that way too. Look for a gentle but effective black head cleanser and be sure not to use it more than twice daily. More often and it may start to dry out your skin.
2. Sleep on Clean Pillows
Another way to get rid of black heads is to sleep on a clean pillowcase. You don’t have to change it every day, but you should do it regularly. This is going to sound gross, but oil from your face can stick to your pillowcase. When you sleep on it, it goes right back into your skin. Plus, you might transfer bacteria to your face.
3. Take a Steam Bath
The next great method used to fight black heads is going to please a lot of you. It is absolutely divine: a hot, steamy bath or shower. The steam will help your pores to open up. Ideally, you can do this right before cleansing your skin.
4. Stay Away from Junk Food
Now, a lot of people try to say that certain foods can cause acne – things like fatty foods and dairy products such as milk and chocolate. That is not true at all – but (there is always a “but”) certain foods may make you more inclined to get an outbreak of black heads. So, when on a mission to fight black heads it might be a good idea to stay away from junk food, or at least use moderation.
5. Lead a Healthy Lifestyle
Finally, the best way to get rid of black heads is to take care of yourself. Drinking plenty of water, getting regular exercise, and eating plenty of fresh fruits of vegetables can all help clear up your skin. When you couple it with the first four tips, especially using a good cleanser, then you will have dream skin in no time.

One thing you should always remember is that when you take a hot, steamy shower or bath and you cleanse your face really well, don't rub your face dry. Pat it dry gently. Rubbing it only gets more dirt and dead skin in your open pores.February 2nd, 2009 at 6:07 pm
